What defines this layout

Using Fathom as a CV
Fathom carries a photo, which is what a continental European CV expects alongside the personal details a British one leaves out. For the UK, Ireland or Australia, turn the photo off in Customize — the layout closes up around it and the rest of the page is unchanged.
It sits at a normal density, which lands most histories on the two pages a non-academic CV is expected to fit.

Is Fathom the right choice?
Who it suits
Long technical careers. The full-height navy rail holds a lot of short-form detail while the dated column keeps the history in order.
What it does to ATS parsing
Two columns with a filled rail — the layout most worth checking against a parser before you send it.
At two pages
The date column holds up but the rail does not. Consider a lighter template if you are certain of two pages.
Use something else if
Gunmetal for a softer rail colour, or Basalt for a near-black one.
