Cotton resume & CV template

A centred name and nothing else but space. The most generous leading here, for histories that need padding out.

What defines this layout

  • Sans-serif typeface
  • Single column
  • No photo
  • Headings with no rule
  • Dates right-aligned against each role

Every one of these is a setting, not a constraint — accent colour, font, size, spacing and page margins stay yours under Customize, and switching template later re-renders what you’ve written rather than starting it over.

Using Cotton as a CV

Cotton needs nothing changed to serve as a UK, Irish or Australian CV — those markets mean by "CV" exactly what the US means by "resume", and this is already that document. Add a photo and personal details only if you are applying into continental Europe.

It is set loose, so a CV running to the usual two pages will fill them comfortably — tighten the spacing in Customize if you need a third page's worth on two.

More on the differences: CV templates and CV examples.

Is Cotton the right choice?

Who it suits

The thinnest histories on the site — first jobs, career changes, returns to work. The spacing is doing honest work here.

What it does to ATS parsing

Single column, plain headings. As safe as anything.

At two pages

Avoid. At this leading a second page is almost entirely white space.

Use something else if

Linen for slightly less air, or Minimal if you want the same idea with the existing set.

Other templates

Build it in the editor
